Lewis-Manning Hospice provides the highest quality supportive palliative care to adults with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses across East Dorset for free.
2012 was the hospice’s 20th anniversary and to celebrate they opened a brand new state of the art facility with beautiful views across Poole Harbour.
Day Hospice: gives advice and support to patients and their carers, helps with pain and symptom management, physiotherapy, rehabilitation and creative art therapy.
Lymphoedema Clinic: provides treatment and support for patients with secondary lymphoedema due to cancer or the treatment of cancer.
Breathlessness Clinic: helps people with respiratory conditions to get more out of their lives by teaching them strategies to manage the symptoms of breathlessness.
Palliative Care Unit: En-suite bedrooms with individual seating areas overlooking the gardens for patients and carers needing respite, rehabilitation or end of life care.
After an annual NHS grant, it costs £50,000 a month to run the hospice, therefore Lewis-Manning Hospice is heavily reliant on legacies to continue providing its vital services to the local community.
Whether it is £100 or £100,000 every gift is crucial to enable nurses to continue giving their patients the support they urgently need to adapt and cope with their illnesses to the best of their ability.
