Age UK Camden’s mission is: ’to work with and for older people in and around Camden to improve their lives’. The organisation is responsible for raising all of its own funds and relies on donations and legacies to continue to support vulnerable and often isolated older people.
Age UK Camden delivers its mission through the provision of services and support, campaigning, public education and social advocacy, innovation and research, and through partnership working. Services have a particular focus on marginalised groups and those facing social isolation, including older people coping with difficulties ranging from income deprivation and poor housing conditions to those experiencing mental health problems and loneliness. Age UK Camden’s services aim to deliver outcomes particularly in relation to supporting older people to live more active and healthier lives with increased opportunities to learn new skills and develop improved life chances.
The organisation supports over 6000 older people each year through services and activities which include: two day resource centres; advice and support; advocacy; counselling (including in community languages and to people with early dementia); good neighbours support; IT training; direct payments support; volunteering opportunities; Bangladeshi carers support; nail care; home support; shopping support; dementia advocacy; neighbourhood care; and, through its Opening Doors project offers events, activities, information, campaigning and lobbying for older lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (OLGBT) people across the whole of London.
Please consider supporting the vital work we undertake for older people.
