AVERT is an international HIV and AIDS charity based in the UK, which is working to combat HIV and AIDS worldwide. AVERT supports HIV projects in the areas of the world that have been most severely affected by the epidemic including many countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

AVERT’s partnerships work directly to avert the spread of HIV and improve the treatment, care and support of those infected with or affected by HIV and AIDS. For example the Sisonke project is based in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa, an area with an extremely high level of HIV and AIDS. Sisonke has already provided support for over 800 orphans and vulnerable children as well as other community services such as home based care.

AVERT also provides worldwide education through the highly successful website www.avert.org which is visited by 500,000 people a week from all over the world. The website provides information on every aspect of HIV including treatment, prevention and real life stories.

AVERT receives no government funding or other statutory funding and relies entirely on voluntary donations. The HIV/AIDS epidemic is still having catastrophic effects in many parts of the world and often affects communities that are faced with other challenges such as poverty and inadequate healthcare systems. Please help AVERT to continue helping these people by making a donation or leaving AVERT a gift in your will.
