Bransby Home of Rest for Horses (Bransby) grew from very humble beginnings over forty years ago.

Our Founder, Mr Peter Hunt, who sadly died in November 2010, rescued his first horse in 1947 from a bomb site in London. Sally, a four year old mare, came to Bransby with Mr Hunt in 1967 where she received a lifetime of care and love.

Bransby wishes to continue Mr Hunt’s truly inspirational work of providing dedicated care for horses, ponies, donkeys and mules who require care as a result of abuse and neglect.
At present we care for over 500 horses, ponies, donkeys and mules, many of which have come to us after years of cruelty and ill treatment or have been rescued through the courts.
We also care for over 150 animals which are loaned, free of charge, under a re- homing scheme where they are visited and inspected regularly by our welfare staff. The ownership of such animals remains with Bransby and they are never sold.

As a charity our home is totally supported by kind, loyal supporters by way of donations and legacies. This year we will require approximately £2.5 million to feed, house and devote the best care to our animals. We need to ask you for your help and kindness to continue providing this level of care.

If you feel that you are able to remember Bransby in your Will please contact our Legacy Department for further information, legacy leaflets and advice on Wills. Bransby may also be able to help with the future care of any equines you have and wish to make provision for.

Please remember that their future relies on your legacy and every penny really does count.
