The Hebrew University of Jerusalem is Israel’s first and foremost University, an acclaimed educational and research institution of the highest calibre that has made an indelible impression both locally and internationally. Despite its relative youth, opening its doors in 1925, the Hebrew University was a vital part of the British Mandate period going on to play a critical role in the development of the State of Israel and Jewish life, benefiting all citizens whilst reaching out to cure, feed and heal the world.

There isn’t a single sphere of activity that has not in some way benefited: science, medicine, water resourcing, plant, food & veterinary sciences, engineering & high tech, law, the arts, Jewish studies – the list is endless. With over 70 nationalities represented, The Hebrew University has an established track-record of tolerance and dialogue which is also reflected in its extensive programme of international collaboration, sharing of expertise globally in the process, helping to enhance Israel’s reputation. Along this 86-year journey, the British Friends has been a stalwart supporter closely identifying with a vision to render the Hebrew University a centre of excellence for all citizens of the State and beyond, fulfilling the Jewish mission of ‘tikun olam’ – healing the world. Invest in Israel’s most important resource – its brainpower – enhancing the Hebrew University’s record of 8 Nobel laureates, 258, Israel prize winners, 12 Wolff Prize laureates and over 110, 000 graduates since 1925 To hear more about how your legacy can make a difference, please contact Gill Benson at the British Friends on 020 8349 5757 or gill.benson@bfhu.org – or visit our website at www.bfhu.org
