The British Home in Streatham, south London, provides 24-hour professional nursing care for 100 residents who have severe disabilities. Most residents are wheel chair users and are disabled due to illnesses such as multiple sclerosis and stroke. Some people have been injured in accidents or due to crime.

Our residents have modern spacious single rooms and are cared for as unique adults, each with their individual needs. We encourage them to make decisions and keep as much control as possible over their own lives.
The skilled nursing care by experienced staff that we provide is very costly and we also need specialised equipment for our residents. A mattress that protects the skin of a vulnerable person and enables them to sleep all night without needing to be turned costs up to £4,000.
Although most of our residents receive help from local and health authorities, we still need to raise £180 a week per resident to meet the full costs of the care
we give. Legacies are vital sources of support and our donors help us to provide
a full range of leisure and social activities that allow our residents to enjoy their
lives again.
If you can help by making a donation or by remembering our residents in your will we would be extremely grateful.
