Tinnitus is the name given to the condition of noises 'in the ears' and/or 'in the head' with no external source. 10% of the UK adult population has tinnitus, and currently there is no cure. Many people with tinnitus are told they will have to ‘learn to live with it.’ We don’t believe this is acceptable – or true.

We are the only national charity dedicated to tinnitus in the UK, and we strive to help people with tinnitus improve their quality of life, and we fund medical research to find a cure for this invasive condition. We do this with a small team of 6, based in Sheffield.
The BTA works to help individuals with tinnitus via:
• a confidential freephone helpline
• information leaflets, produced by leading medical professionals that are distributed free of charge
• production of ‘Quiet’ BTA’s quarterly magazine
• our website, www.tinnitus.org.uk that contains information and advice for all audiences
• organising Tinnitus Awareness Week
The BTA also works with medical professionals to advance medical and clinical research, and helps professionals to gain the skills and understanding of tinnitus to treat patients.
Your gift would help us to continue to be able to support the tinnitus community in the UK, and ensure that we can continue to progress towards a cure for tinnitus. Gifts can be dedicated to supporting our freephone helpline, information packs or medical research programme.
