CAFOD believes that every man, woman and child matters. Since 1962, we have worked alongside people in the developing world to combat global poverty and injustice and bring about lasting change.

We work in partnership with more than 500 local organisations across Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and the Caribbean. Our staff and partners work with some of the world’s poorest communities, regardless of their race, nationality and religion.

Our top priorities are helping those affected by conflict (including peace building, reconciliation and reconstruction); fighting the root causes of poverty (through advocacy and campaigning); building sustainable livelihoods (through humanitarian and development programmes) and combating HIV and AIDS (through education, advocacy and healthcare programmes).

As the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales, CAFOD is a member of the Caritas International Federation and plays a vital role in the world’s second largest development and humanitarian aid network. Collaborating with other local and international organisations enables us to reach those affected by natural disasters or conflict quickly and effectively. And because we’re committed to long term, sustainable change we stay long after the media have left, supporting people as they rebuild their lives and communities.

Legacies are vital to CAFOD’s work, not simply because they fund a fifth of our overseas work but also because they provide a solid base of support for years to come. Every pledge of a legacy made today helps us promise to be here for our global family of tomorrow.
