We are a charity dedicated to training dogs in the detection and recognition of human disease by odour.

Cancer and Bio-detection Dogs
Our first study that was published in the British Medical Journal in 2004 showed that dogs can be trained to identify the odour of cancer within urine. This potentially unknown finding indicated the potential for a new method of diagnosing cancer which would be simple, quick and non-invasive. Clinicians and scientists are studying the data collected to help them in the development of an electronic nose.

Medical Assistance Dogs
We also train medical assistance dogs to alert individuals managing day to day life threatening conditions by detecting minute changes in body odour. These include Diabetes Blood Sugar Alert dogs for individuals coping with unstable Type 1 diabetes, many of who are young diabetics who receive no warning of dangerously low blood sugar. These dogs can also detect and warn of high blood sugar, which, if left uncontrolled, causes chronic and debilitating health problems such as loss of sight, kidney damage and amputation.

The charity train dogs for other debilitating conditions such as severe pain seizures and Addison`s Disease. Alert dogs warn their owners and bring vital medical supplies and get assistance if required.

Our dogs make a difference, save human lives and improve quality of life for children and their families. We receive no government or NHS funding and desperately need funds to continue this work.

A sniff can save a life.
