In the UK there are nine million deaf or hard of hearing people. Deafness is a devastating disability which has the power to make the simplest attempt to communicate a huge struggle. It isolates, brings intense frustration and creates barriers which can dramatically limit a deaf person’s quality of life.

We are the only national charity dedicated to medical research into hearing and our discoveries have already improved the quality of life for millions of people. We helped bring digital hearing aids to the general public, improved cochlear implants to restore hearing to profoundly deaf people and developed a simple, painless, test that allows deaf babies to be identified at birth. Your support could allow us to continue our work to develop treatments for conditions such as tinnitus or ultimately find a cure for deafness.
