The Trust was set up in 1994 by people with diabetes for people with diabetes. We offer support and understanding to those with diabetes and their families. We provide information leaflets to enable people with diabetes to have an informed choice of treatment and to help with the day to day difficulties of living with diabetes. We also provide a telephone listening service and collate information from the experiences of people with diabetes to help and support others.

Diabetes can cause blindness, kidney failure, nerve damage and heart attack that severely affect the lives of all those living with diabetes. A cure for diabetes is still illusive and so there is a need to offer understanding, support and information to people who have diabetes now, and to their families. Living with diabetes is not easy but living with the complications can be very difficult.
The incidence of diabetes in children is increasing. This very vulnerable group and their parents need help and understanding. Your support will enable us to further develop our programme to help children and to provide an information resource for teachers about the needs of children with diabetes.

The Trust collects unused, in-date insulin to send to adults and children with diabetes in developing countries where many die for lack of affordable insulin.

With your help we can continue our work to improve the quality of life of the many thousands of people who live with diabetes. Please make cheques payable to “Diabetes Trust Welfare Fund”.
