Founded in 1955 and incorporated in 1962, the Tramway Museum Society owns and operates the National Tramway Museum at Crich, on the edge of the Peak District in Derbyshire. The society is a registered charity, a Designated Museum under the Museums and Galleries Commission schemes, a member of the International Commission of Transport Museums, and the Association of Independent Museums.
