Epilepsy Network - Gravesend
Established in 1981 and registered as a charity in 1989.
1 person in 100 suffers with Epilepsy. It can affect family, friends, education, employment prospects and social activities. In many cases a driving licence has to be forfeited immediately. We are committed to giving free, practical and direct help to anyone affected by this sometimes devastating condition.
We are able to give comprehensive support and assistance to people with epilepsy and their families, and have a large supply of free information on the subject. This includes leaflets, books, DVD’s and personal experiences. Our telephone Helpline directs people to the help and support they need. In addition, our trained Counsellor is in attendance at Outpatient Epilepsy Clinics to give guidance, encouragement and information on numerous and varied aspects of the condition. In addition, this now includes a dedicated Paediatric Clinic.
Educating the public and professionals is a major issue in reducing the stigma and ignorance of epilepsy.
As all of our members are unpaid volunteers, all funds raised go directly to those affected by epilepsy, or to nationally recognised research projects.
