Glyndebourne Arts Trust
John Christie and his wife Audrey Mildmay founded the internationally renowned Glyndebourne Festival in 1934. Today run by their grandson Gus Christie, the three month summer Festival presents six productions ranging from established classics to new commissions.
The Glyndebourne Festival receives no public subsidy and relies on the contribution of members and supporters through box office, subscription income and donations. It is thanks to their generosity that Glyndebourne is as independent today as it was when the first performance took place 75 years ago.
In addition, Glyndebourne on Tour (founded in 1968) takes three productions on a national tour each autumn. The purpose of the Tour is to make Glyndebourne’s work accessible to a wider audience and to nurture young singers. Our highly respected Education Department delivers a year-round programme of community and outreach projects.
Glyndebourne has always been a special place where families of all ages, friends and guests come to enjoy the experience. It is more than a night at the opera; the gardens, the food and the setting leave our visitors with unique memories to take away with them.
If Glyndebourne and what it represents are important to you, I hope you will consider including a gift to Glyndebourne in your will. Every donation is important to us and is gratefully received. For more information on how your gift could help contact Sarah Dalton on 01273 815 044.
