Harper Adams University College is the UK’s largest higher education institution specialising in the sustainable development of the rural economy and rural communities. The College has 2,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students studying courses in all aspects of rural life, including agriculture, the management of the food chain, the management of the countryside, the development of rural businesses, the protection of environmental and natural resources, rural leisure and tourism and the professional training of veterinary nurses and practice managers. The University College, based in rural Shropshire, is also a major centre for rural and food chain research and knowledge transfer.

The aim of the Development Trust is to support the work of the University College by improving student learning facilities and by providing an endowment to pay for scholarships for students less able, because of their financial or personal circumstances, to pursue a course in higher education.

The University College has a number of capital projects that it wishes to undertake for which government funding is either very limited or not currently available. Details of these projects can be obtained via the above address or on our web site. The introduction of higher tuition fees for students means that financial support is even more important to support opportunities for students from rural areas to realise their career goals. Your donation or bequest will make a lasting difference to the work of this national centre of excellence in rural higher education and to those who wish to pursue a career in the rural or food chain sectors.
