Independent Age
Independent Age is the operating name of the Royal United Kingdom Beneficent Association (RUKBA) and now incorporates Counsel and Care and the Universal Beneficent Society (UBS).
Independent Age is a unique and growing charity, providing information, advice and support for thousands of older people across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
Our Counsel and Care advice and information service offers independent, professional, dedicated and sympathetic information and support to around 250,000 older people, their families and carers a year in the UK.
Over 1,200 volunteers help us provide a range of services including one-to-one befriending, with regular face-to-face or telephone support to those in greatest isolation.
We have a telephone friendship service, Live Wires, which allows isolated older people to have a facilitated, regular group discussion about a common interest.
Our social activity groups bring older people together to get involved in an activity of their choice, supported by a volunteer organiser.
We have published an information booklet, Wise Guide, containing expert advice about claiming benefits and other services.
A gift in your will could enable us to continue the vital lifeline for future generations of older people, to ensure they are given the dignity and independence they deserve.
