Charity number:
216032 (England & Wales), SC037529 (Scotland) Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research is the only UK charity solely dedicated to research into better treatments and cures for blood cancers, including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
- Around 28,500 people of all ages, from babies to grandparents, are diagnosed with blood cancers in the UK every year.
- When our charity began in 1960, childhood leukaemia was a virtual death sentence; now nine out of ten children with the most common form of this blood cancer survive.
- But there is more work to be done especially for adults with blood cancer. Currently survival rates for some types of lymphoma is as high as 79% but still more young people under 40 die from blood cancer than any other cancer.
- Our expertise in blood cancers means we are able to provide reliable patient information on our website, in leaflets, booklets or by telephone.
- We rely entirely upon voluntary support as we receive no government funding. To continue our lifesaving work we need to raise £100m over the next 5 years.
- At the heart of our charity are supporters from all walks of life, united in their commitment to fundraising so that all blood cancer patients are given the very best chance of survival.
A legacy to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research will bring us closer to a cure for blood cancers.
