The charity was set up as a memorial to Richard Dimbleby, the broadcasting pioneer, following his death from cancer in 1965 at the age of 52.

The focus of the charity is addressing the psychological and social impact on patients and their families which a cancer diagnosis inevitably brings, and offering supportive care throughout the journey through treatment to recovery, or to the end of life. The charity does this in two ways.

Age UK Camden’s mission is: ‘to work with and for older people in and around Camden to improve their lives’. For many years Age UK London has been helped in its work supporting and voicing the issues that impact on our older people’s lives through the generosity of donors who have remembered us in their wills.
Leaving us such a gift, however large or small, is the most important way of ensuring that we will be able to continue our work for older people living in the capital.
If we don’t work now for the rights and needs of older people who live in London, younger generations will still be trying to secure a brighter future for themselves and their families as they age.

Most people realise the degree of stress suffered when a child is born with a disability or accidentally becomes impaired. How many do something about it?
In 1961 a number of caring parents joined together to help children less fortunate than their own. To date over £15M in equipment and services has been dispensed.
We are one of the only UK charities prepared to help an individual disabled child from a low-income family with often the most basic of essential items as well as essential equipment. We also provide equipment to special schools, homes, and hospitals.

The story of the Maudsley Charity began with a charitable deed over 760 years ago. In 1247 a former Sheriff of the City of London endowed funds to form the Priory of St Mary which was later named the Bethlem Hospital, the world's oldest psychiatric institution, based at the time in Bishopsgate, near Liverpool Street station today. Over the centuries, donations have continued to play an important role in improving the experience of people treated at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLAM) and to promote mental health and well being for all.

Around 100,000 people – many of them diagnosed in their 20s or 30s – know what it’s like to have multiple sclerosis. They know that MS can affect their mobility, their sight, their speech, cause immense pain and even leave them paralysed. They also know there’s no cure.

Thankfully the MS Society exists to find ways of beating MS.
