Lord Dowding Fund for Humane Research
The Lord Dowding Fund for Humane Research (LDF) supports, sponsors, and funds better methods of scientific and medical research for testing products and curing disease, which replace the use of animals. We also fund areas of fundamental research which lead to the adoption of non-animal research methodology.
We believe that non-animal methods are not only humane, but are more advanced and reliable than animal research. The future of science lies with a range of modern, sophisticated alternatives such as computer modelling, tissue or cell cultures and micro-dosing, and not by stubbornly sticking to cruel, outdated and unnecessary animal experiments.
With an annual research budget of over £300,000, we have developed a British Standard test for the toxicity of dental fillings, supported ground breaking neuroscience research, saved millions of animals in teaching through our computer simulations and funded research into cot deaths, cancer, safety testing, microsurgery, Parkinson’s disease, infertility, schizophrenia, and hepatitis B.
Please leave us a bequest and help build a future of real medical and scientific progress without pain.
