Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children is one of the leading children’s hospitals in the world caring for sick children from all over the country – in particular those with the most rare or severe conditions. The hospital has the largest range of paediatric specialities under one roof in the UK and is the largest centre for children with cancer and leukaemia in Europe and the largest centre for children’s heart transplants in the world. Type 1 diabetes is a chronic condition that stays with people their entire lives.

  • People with type 1 diabetes rely on multiple insulin injections or pump infusions every day just to stay alive.
  • Type 1 diabetes is most commonly diagnosed in childhood, but it can happen at any age.
