Midlands Asthma & Allergy Research Association (MAARA)
MAARA is a Midlands based charity founded over 40 years ago to conduct and fund research into the cause and treatment of asthma and other allergies.
MAARA runs a help and information service, providing information on anaphylaxis, nut allergies etc. whilst also giving support to local Nut Allergy groups.
MAARA funds asthma and allergy research projects working with Universities/Health Authorities, Medical Schools, Environmental Health Departments, Agricultural Colleges and General Practitioners. It is nationally renowned for aerobiological research having the longest running pollen and spore data set in the world.
Asthma and hay fever have more than doubled in adults in the past two decades and cases of childhood asthma have rocketed. Up to one third of the population in developed countries is affected by allergic disease and the UK has the highest prevalence of asthma symptoms in 13-14 year olds in the world.
At the current time we are supporting research projects of over £300 000 and require more donations to support this level of research. MAARA has helped many people over the years providing unique help and advice for all those with asthma and other allergies. Please help us to help them.
