Founded in 1928 by Dorothy and Pog Yglesias, the hospital depends entirely on donations and yearly subscriptions to Hospital Membership. Caring for both land and sea birds, its aim is always to release, but it gives permanent sanctuary in cases where this is impossible. Support is particularly needed for our continuing programme of essential improvements and modernisations to help us in our work.

During the last year we cared for 955 injured birds, of which 401 were fledglings. Nearly 500 were released when well again into their natural environment. Many oiled seabirds are brought to us and the RSPCA use our services when disasters at sea result in large numbers of badly oiled birds. Garden birds such as goldfinches and wrens also come to us as patients, as well as birds from field and woodland, such as meadow pipits, lapwings and owls. Please help us to help them all.
