Sailors’ Society
Your legacy will help reduce seafarers’ isolation.
The Sailors’ Society exists to enhance and enrich seafarers’ lives and improve the quality of their well-being.
Seafarers from many nationalities serve alongside each other with little in common but the work they undertake, which makes them feel isolated and alone. Separated from loved ones for months on end without the means of regular communication, intense pressures are put on personal lives and important family occasions are missed.
We minister to the needs of seafarers through a network of Port Chaplains and Seafarers’ Centres. Our Chaplains visit ships regularly and often are the first to notice when all is not well on board.
Enjoying a special trusted status, Port Chaplains are able to respond to seafarers’ requests for help. They respect the confidentiality of their position and do whatever they can to assist.
If you are able to leave a legacy to the Sailors’ Society then many more seafarers throughout the world will be able to enjoy a sense of belonging so that isolation diminishes.
