For more than 60 years the Board has provided retirement housing to clergy and others retired from the full-time stipendiary ministry, their spouses, widows or widowers. As well as the retirement housing scheme, the Board offers supported housing in seven locations around the country, and a nursing home for its more elderly and frail pensioners, allaying the uncertainties and loneliness which can often be associated with old age.

Help the Homeless was founded in 1975. We started with two national appeals and, as a result of the careful management of funds, we have been able to give grants totalling almost £2million to date.

2 women are killed each week as a result of domestic abuse. Around 750,000 children in the UK witness domestic abuse each year. Hestia supports over 200 homeless children each year who flee domestic abuse with their mothers to live in our emergency refuges. It can leave children in particular confused, lonely and angry. We help families to get back on their feet and build a better life after the trauma they have experienced. Without support, they are in grave danger of long-term damage, including mental health problems or developmental problems, including lower educational achievement in older children and delays in speech in younger children.

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) supports families with seriously ill children by providing free “home away from home” accommodation at hospitals and hospices across the UK. We are one of the richest countries in the world, and yet millions of people in Britain wake up every day in housing that is run-down, overcrowded or dangerous. Many others have lost their home altogether. Bad housing robs us of security, health, and a fair chance in life.
