Sustrans makes smarter travel choices possible, desirable and inevitable. We’re a leading UK charity enabling people to travel on foot, by bike or on public transport for more of the journeys we make every day. We started by creating the National Cycle Network: a comprehensive network of safe and attractive routes for cyclists and pedestrians.

As well as being useful for journeys to work, school and local amenities, the routes connect towns, cities, countryside and coast. Then we started helping families, workplaces, and whole communities to choose healthier, cleaner and cheaper journeys, by giving them information and better places and spaces to move through and live in. Now we’re also asking policymakers to make it easier, safer and cheaper to walk, cycle and use public transport for those everyday journeys.

So why sustainable transport? Because we think everyone should be able to travel in the healthiest, greenest and most enjoyable way possible.

Legacies and donations are absolutely essential to this work.
