Donkey Sanctuary, The

The Donkey Sanctuary is a registered charity and the largest of its kind in the world. We provide specialist care and refuge to donkeys in the UK, Ireland and Europe. We also work in Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Kenya and Mexico to improve donkey welfare with donkey-owning communities through education and veterinary work.

We aim to protect donkeys and mules and promote their welfare worldwide through the provision of high quality professional advice, training and support on donkey care and welfare. Welfare officers in the UK and Ireland provide advice and practical support to donkey owners and follow up complaints of alleged maltreatment or neglect of donkeys; and the Sanctuary’s veterinary team shares their knowledge with practitioners around the world.
