War Memorials Trust works to protect and conserve all war memorials in the UK. The charity provides information and advice on a range of issues related to war memorials and offers financial assistance through grants schemes for repair and conservation.

Requests for support increase year on year as awareness of the charity grows. Those who participated in World War II want to ensure family, friends and comrades are remembered and their memorials preserved. Interest in genealogy combined with military anniversaries and current conflict stimulates the interest of younger generations. With the centenary of the Great War approaching communities across the country will seek to ensure their memorial is in a fit condition for remembrance ceremonies and events. Many will call upon the Trust to help.

The Trust’s Small Grants Scheme spent £3,000 in its first year 1998; in 2009 the charity distributed more than £100,000. War Memorials Trust helps local communities repair and conserve the memorials erected to remember those who left their homes and streets, never to return. Demand continues to outstrip resources and there are many more deserving and important projects that the Trust could support. Your legacy would enable us to do that.

War Memorials Trust is an independent registered charity and relies entirely on voluntary funding, through donations including legacies, to continue its work. By leaving a legacy to War Memorials Trust you will help preserve our war memorial heritage. Information can be obtained from the Director on 0300 123 0764 or at info@warmemorials.org.
