The SDT made no order against the respondent, of Hossack Solicitors, Fern Villas, 26 The Grove, Kettering, Northamptonshire,NN15 7QQ. The respondent had breached the terms of rule 16.01 of the Solicitors Practice Rules 1990 by virtue of her disclosing confidential information to a third party. While the tribunal did not accept the respondent’s defence under rule 16.02, it considered the breach as proved to be at the lowest level. Having considered the submissions and noted that the respondent had not previously appeared before it, the SDT determined that no order should be made either as to penalty or as to costs. Moreover, as the SDT considered that the proceedings had been properly brought by the Solicitors Regulation Authority it made no order as to costs in favour of the respondent.
