Apprenticeship scheme for legal services

The first legal services apprenticeships are to be made available from next year to employers seeking skilled paralegal and other legal support staff.

The London Apprenticeship Company (LAC) announced today that it had teamed up with charity Skills for Justice to place young people into apprenticeships within the legal services sector.

The charity, which has College of Law chief executive Nigel Savage on its board, aims to identify the key skills issues for legal services and to help employers and individuals to become better skilled. It also works to influence policy makers to take into account the skill needs of the legal services sector.

Employers interested in taking on a legal services apprentice are invited to a free event on 23 May.
