China training scheme

The Bar Council has launched a training scheme for Chinese lawyers to replace one that ended in April after 20 years of Ministry of Justice funding. Nine lawyers from leading Chinese firms will take part in the six-week scheme.

Advocates told to notify
Solicitors wishing to undertake criminal advocacy from January 2013 need to notify the Solicitors Regulation Authority of their intention between 2 July and 21 September, under the new Quality Assurance Scheme for Advocates.
