Emma Prescott has joined Duncan Lewis as housing litigation director and is based at the firm’s Shepherds Bush branch.

Emma specialises in housing litigation, representing tenants in all aspects of landlord/tenant law against local authorities and housing corporations and also undertakes private work for landlords seeking advice on housing disputes.

Emma’s caseload includes possession and eviction matters, linked benefit issues, anti social behaviour injunctions, illegal eviction and harassment cases, disrepair actions and homelessness matters including section 204 county court appeals with a focus on judicial review cases using administrative law principles, in addition to dealing with any Human Rights Act 1998 issues.

Prior to working at Duncan Lewis, Emma qualified as a solicitor at Fisher Meredith LLP, before working as department head at Wainwright Cummins LLP for three years. During this time she conducted her own caseload and managed the other fee-earners within the team.

This involved performing file reviews, overseeing policy submissions and contract bidding, ensuring Lexcel standards were maintained, and co-ordinating the costing/billing processes within the team.

She also campaigned on housing issues and worked closely with voluntary advice organisations and community cultural projects to help vulnerable tenants, such as the Lambeth Citizens Advice Bureau, the Brixton Advice Centre, the St Giles Trust, Eaves for Women and Action for Refugees in Lewisham.
