A trainee solicitor who faked his legal qualifications has been barred from the solicitors’ profession.

Sanjeeva Camillus, who worked for London firm William Sturges, was found in March 2013 to have fabricated certificates relating to a qualifying law degree and the LPC.

A notice published today by the Solicitors Regulation Authority said an investigation had found Camillus had misled his firm and the regulator. The trainee, 29 and from Welling in Kent, admitted the conduct referred to in the notice.

Camillus was already suspended by William Sturges and was told last month by the SRA he is now subject to a section 43 order.

This will effectively prohibit him from practising as a solicitor or being employed by a regulated firm without permission from the SRA.

A spokesman for William Sturges said the firm did not wish to comment, other than to stress there was no blame attached to it for Camillus’ conduct.
