A former supervisor at international firm Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co has been barred from working in the profession for selling the firm’s printer toner on eBay without its consent.

Andrew Cook, a non-solicitor who was employed as a mapping services supervisor at the firm, was found to have sold the printer toner on eBay for £230.01. According to the Solicitors Regulation Authority, Cook received £227.34 after eBay fees.

His conduct was discovered after the toner supplier notified the firm, which carried out an internal investigation.

Cook transferred £227.34 back into the firm’s account. He was dismissed by Wragge on 12 May 2015.

The SRA found that his conduct was dishonest and in breach of its rules. It said it would be ‘undesirable’ for him to be involved in a legal practice.

Cook, of Walsall, may not be employed in any solicitor’s practice or by any solicitor without SRA permission in future.

Wragge said that due to reasons of confidentiality it was unable to discuss former employees, but confirmed Cook had left the firm.
