The problem we lawyers have when confronting politicians is that we behave ethically and we think they do too.

The words "I am sure the lord chancellor had no intention of misleading the committee" give unnecessary succour to our opponent.

Might I add a plea to the publishers - isn't it time that you changed the spell checker on this site to UK rather than US English. I am tired of getting red underlines for word which have been correctly spelled.
