Anonymous 13 January 2016 - Absolutely right. But as the representative body for solicitors, what kind of defence of the public's right of access to "proper" legal services is being put up by the Law Society? What is the Law Society for ...I am seriously left wondering if they have any purpose other than providing this forum and perhaps keeping us up to date with the car crash of our profession. I have experienced trying to get the SRA to use their "regulatory" powers and have been totally unimpressed. The LS as it used to be was far more effective. Those who want to basically kill off the proper legal profession and substitute it with unqualified patsies who admittedly will probably be cheaper than a qualified and experienced lawyer (and won't present a threat to the authorities of course) are doing a tremendously efficient job (just a pity they can't be as efficient at other things isn't it?!!!) It's time for professionals (assuming we have a sufficient critical mass) to take action. Such a shame that only barristers have done this so far. What's the matter with solicitors? At the end of the day we may all need legal services ourselves you know...and I want to know that I can get a decent service. We all know what this "competition" nonsense is about...getting firms to employ more and more unqualified people who can pretend to a largely unsuspecting public that they are getting value for money and leave the insurers and politicians to "rule ok". We've allowed this situation to arise and only WE (while there are any of us left) need to do something about it. Legal Services wise we are perhaps already a third world country....
