Every child and adult deserves the opportunity to learn
Dyslexia Action is a national charity with over 40 years’ experience in providing services and support to children, young people and adults with literacy and numeracy difficulties, dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties. We offer vital support to children, young people and adults with dyslexia through assessments, specialist teaching and training for teachers, operating in over 100 locations across Great Britain.
Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty that primarily affects the ability to learn to read and spell. It often runs in families and stems from a difficulty in processing the sounds in words. Some 10% of the UK population are affected. It can affect short-term memory and speed of recalling names. Other kinds of difficulties, for example with maths or with co-ordination, sometimes go alongside dyslexia.
With the right support, strategies to overcome the difficulties associated with dyslexia can be learnt and dyslexia need not be a barrier to achievement.
Dyslexia Action offers a wide range of help and support in school, the community and the workplace.
Supporting Dyslexia Action through a gift in a Will, means that more people with dyslexia can get the support they need. After you have taken care of family and friends, please consider remembering Dyslexia Action in your Will. It is greatly appreciated.
