Leonard Cheshire supports people to live, learn and work as independently as they choose, whatever their ability. Led by people with experience of disability, we’re at the heart of local life – opening doors to opportunity, choice and support in communities around the globe.

Shouldn’t everyone should have the freedom to choose, no matter who they are or where they live? We think so. With our partners from Africa and Asia, we provide education and employment programmes that support disabled people to reach their full potential. We work with local partners to meet local needs, empowering disabled people to be active participants in their communities.

We support children with disabilities to attend mainstream schools alongside non-disabled children. We also offer disabled people the support that they need to earn a living, including career guidance and counselling, professional training and support into waged or self- employment.

Our research into disability and poverty gives us insight that helps us advise local and national governments and key decision makers around the world, and influence policy decisions that really make a difference to people’s daily lives.

What difference can a single gift make? Each gift, no matter how small, will help disabled people in developing countries to live their lives as freely and as fully as they choose.
