Registered Charity No: 1171195 (England & Wales).
St George’s Hospital Charity raises and spends donations for the benefit of St George’s Hospital in Tooting and Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton, and community health services in south west London that enhance the patient experience.
Legacies play a significant role in our work, and in 2016 the charity has been able to commission work and equipment purchases as a direct result of legacy gifts, some with specific wishes and other with broader wishes:-
- An expansion to the Chemotherapy Day Unit would not have been possible without £410,000 of gifts made in wills for cancer patients
- The completion of £200,000 of works to facilitate a new MRI scanner was made possible thanks to a legacy
- A room in Neuroradiology was converted into one for carrying out X-Rays thanks to a legacy
- A single legacy was shared between two areas of the hospital as per the donor’s wish. Half of the gift helped the charity to fund research into post-operative knee pain following knee replacement surgery with the remainder paying for specialist software for cardiac equipment
Patients, relatives and staff see the benefits of such gifts quickly.
This year we have Appeals to fund urgently-needed equipment, spaces, projects, and therapies including cancer, cardiac, children, major trauma, A&E, intensive care, neuro, rehab, therapy, renal and research. Support for these or more general purposes is most welcome and we would be delighted to discuss the information you require to inform your client’s wish.
