The Art Room works in deprived areas using art as a tool for change to unlock the inherent potential of society’s most vulnerable children aged 5-16. The challenges they face are making it difficult for them to engage with learning and the school environment. They might be disruptive, withdrawn, or suffering with learning difficulties. Referring factors have included emotional and behavioural problems arising from the impact of violence and abuse, bereavement, mental health issues, addiction, crime, neglect and the pressures of acting as prime carer.

At Art Rooms in London, Oxfordshire and Scotland, children work with our practitioners by means of our unique method. They develop self-esteem, resilience, and self-regulatory and problem-solving processes, as well as improved relationship skills. Schools report raised emotional and behavioural improvement following participation in The Art Room, and improved attendance and attainment. All of this provides a stronger foundation for the future.

At The Art Room we rely on the generosity of those people who leave legacies and give donations to support our work. Every gift will have a real and vital impact in the lives of many vulnerable children facing challenging circumstances.
