Advice and support for older age
Whatever happens as we get older, we all want to remain independent and live life on our own terms. That’s why, as well as offering regular friendly contact and a strong campaigning voice, Independent Age provides older people with clear, free and impartial advice on the issues that matter: care and support, money and benefits, health and mobility. A charity founded over 150 years ago, we’re independent so older people can be too.
Did you know?
- More than 500,000 older people spend Christmas Day alone
- An estimated 690,000 people aged 75 and over report they are always or often lonely
- Up to £3.7 billion of benefits for older people remain unclaimed
We believe in a society where older people lead the lives to which they aspire and can contribute actively to their communities. Our donors’ generosity and our legacy income is crucial to ensuring our vital work continues as the UK faces the challenges of an ageing population.
Of the older people we help, 1 in 5 are supported thanks to money left to us in Wills.
