Continuing professional development training has been a farce for many years and ‘regime change’ will not resolve practical problems that arise.

For example, newly qualified solicitors who need hands-on experience are barred from youth courts. They cannot sit in and learn about the court or the Probation Service or social services. How, then, are our newly qualified solicitors to gain experience and court knowledge?

For too many years solicitors have been denied access to our youth courts, unless directly involved in a particular case. In this regard, imposing CPD rule changes helps no one.
