Harrisons was the first, and still is, the only English Law Firm in Serbia and Montenegro where they have operated since 1999. Harrisons is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and has the benefit of international Professional Indemnity Insurance, unlike domestic law firms.

Mark Harrison is the first European Lawyer to be registered with the Serbian Bar Association. He is also Honorary Legal Adviser to both the British Ambassador to Serbia and the British Ambassador to Montenegro and co-founder of the Serbian-British Business Club.

The firm specialises in advising the world’s leading companies, financial institutions and governments, on international transactions in the Balkans, with particular emphasis on Serbia, Montenegro and Republika Srpska.

In the Balkans, the firm has an unrivalled track record of acting in major legal transactions and for major international clients. In particular Harrisons have brought U. S. Steel., Heineken, British American Tobacco, Citigroup and Fiat Automobili to invest in the Serbian market. Likewise in Montenegro they have attracted Porto Montenegro, the Royal Group (Abu Dhabi), Orascom (Egypt), Qatari Diar and Ominvest (Oman).

Uniquely Harrisons also has an office in the City of London, underlining our strength as the International Financial Law Firm for the Balkans. IFC chose Harrisons as its first and only Transaction Counsel for Serbia, and we act extensively for other IFI’s, such as EBRD, DEG, KfW, Swedfund and EFSE, plus leading investment banks involved with the region such as JP Morgan, Credit Suisse, Citigroup. In addition Harrisons acted as local counsel on the first Eurobond issues in both Serbia and Montenegro.

Recently Harrisons has become extensively involved with the UAE, and the substantial investments planned, in particular by Abu Dhabi in Serbia in the agricultural and real-estate sectors.
