I act as an expert witness relating to clinical negligence and personal injury. My areas of expertise are the obstetric management of labour and delivery; birth injury; urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse; operative gynaecology including minimal access surgery such as hysteroscopy, laparoscopy and treatments for menorrhagia. Instructions are accepted on behalf of both Claimant and Defendant.
I am a member of the Expert Witness Institute and am fully compliant with the GMC and RCOG regulations on specialist registration and continuing education. I am a member of relevant specialty national and international organizations and I am data protection registered.
I qualified in medicine with the graduate degrees of MB BS from the Charing Cross Hospital, London in 1983 and was appointed as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in 1993. I gained my clinical expertise at renowned centres for women’s healthcare including Queen Charlotte’s Hospital, the Chelsea Hospital for Women, Kings College Hospital, London and the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
I have led in the management of labour and delivery suite care and was a panel member of the South-East Regional Confidential Enquiry into Stillbirths and Deaths in Infancy team. I became a fully independent medical practitioner in 2013. I contribute to labour ward clinical management meetings by analyzing problems and outcomes in the provision of care during labour and delivery to reduce maternal and neonatal birth injury.
Gynaecologically, I provide specialised services in minimal access surgery and perform advanced hysteroscopic and laparoscopic surgical techniques. Following an audit of my minimal access surgery I was appointed by the RCOG as a preceptor for advanced hysteroscopic and laparoscopic surgery and also a peer reviewer for research papers submitted for publication to the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. I have also been a member of the training faculty of the National Minimal Access Therapy Training Unit (MATTU) at the Royal Surrey County Hospital at Guildford. Additionally, I specialise in the management of pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence.
I have performed research in several areas of Obstetrics and Gynaecology with published papers in major national and international journals. My research for the Cancer Research Campaign was awarded with my academic MD by the University of London and the Edgar Gentilli Annual Scientific Prize by the RCOG .
