Rodney Appleyard is a Chartered Building Surveyor and a Fellow of the RICS and CIArb who works as an independent Expert Witness professional, in practice as an investigative building surveyor, specialising in fenestration which is all aspects of glass, glazing and frames in PVCu, Metal and Aluminium.
From double glazing through stained glass to commercial curtain walling Rod Appleyard is recognised as a leading expert in this field. Couple this with his expertise in building envelope from water ingress in roofs to defective brickwork, defective concrete and defective cladding. There is little doubt that his training to diploma level in presenting expert reports and delivering that evidence to the courts across the country places him in high demand. What he brings to the team not just his experience within fenestration and building but also the ability to carry out none destructive testing using a thermal camera of the highest optical quality available outside the MOD.
The scope of his instructions are not just limited to construction disputes as he is often called upon to give expert evidence in fenestration and glass related accidents in the cases of personal injury and specification contractual issues.
Rod Appleyard also acts as Adjudicator or Construction Arbitrator of disputes between householders and their contractors or clients/contractors with contractors.
Rod Appleyard has been appointed directly by parties seeking a private settlement to a dispute or through the RICS, as Arbitrator, Adjudicator and Expert Determiner on a number of occasions for both domestic and commercial disputes. He is the listed Arbitrator for CERTASS and is on the panel of “The Yorkshire Arbitration Scheme” for construction related disputes.
