As a retired judge I am astonished that any law firm would wish to invite this lord chancellor to their premises, given her recent failure to show any respect for, or even appreciation of, the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary (‘Liz Truss drops in’).

Many voices more eminent than mine have been raised in protest against the supine attitude of Liz Truss. When a former lord chief justice adds his voice, it must be a sure sign that there is something fundamentally wrong with her appointment.

I certainly would not wish to rub shoulders with Truss, but then again I am not Chattertons.
