The SDT ordered that the respondent should be struck off the roll.

The matter was dealt with by the agreed outcome procedure.

By virtue of his conviction at Sheffield Crown Court in November 2016 of conspiracy to defraud the Legal Aid Agency, the respondent had breached principles 1, 2 and 6 of the SRA Principles 2011.

The respondent had been convicted of a serious criminal offence. He had admitted the allegation and recognised the seriousness of the misconduct.

The appropriate sanction in all the circumstances was a strike-off. The respondent had not presented any exceptional circumstances, nor had any such been identified, that would enable a lesser sanction to be imposed.

The respondent was ordered to pay costs of £846.
