Comment

Secular fundamentalists should be careful of what they wish for. The religious notion that the law serves a higher purpose than serving the will of whatever faction of human society happens to be in power at any one time is a protection for us all. Besides, the idea that the judges' religious service "undermines public confidence" is pure fantasy. What proportion of the general public do they think either knows or cares about the matter? To paraphrase Serjeant Sullivan, "In the small village in North Yorkshire from where I come it is the sole topic of conversation"
