Interesting comments, BUT who were the people who campaigned for the abolition of slavery, welfare reforms etc in the past? Were they not committed Christians?

So were are those who care now that there is far more slavery world-wide than ever before? Are the secularists pressing for such reforms now? I fear not..

How would our country's voluntary sector/services function without its myriad Christian volunteers?

It is all right to mouth words about "pay great respect for individual's religious principles" and saying grounds of conscience do not "immunise an individual from the secular law" .. but when push comes to shove it seems Muslim/Hindu grounds of conscience are much less likely to violate the secular law, than Christian ones .. that is why many Christians feel there are powerful forces at work (eg in the secular media) in our society which would love to see Christianity marginalised; and they feel somewhat persecuted .

There are far more church attenders than football spectators for example.
