I think the opening statement by Robert Sayer implying that the profession should have some form of special protection from commercial competition is absurd. Especially if this is the same Robert Sayer who used to be the President of The Law Society.

At least he was brave enough to provide his name.

Law firms need to be more commercial and stop complaining about threats from businesses willing to invest in areas where they feel they can make money. All of these accusations of poor customer service and untrained staff are just sour grapes by firms unable to keep up with the changing times.

As for accusing these businesses of worrying about the bottom line, that is what being in business is about; making money.
