What Prof. Paton is talking about is government control of the legal profession and doing away with its independence. It is sinister that he suggests that the US profession should "voluntarily" adopt the ABS model before it is forced upon them by government, nice attempt to cover this by saying market forces will be the end cause.Here is how the professor describes hinmself on LinkedIn, as you can see not much private practice experience in a professional firm of lawyers.
